Overview
Referring URL Authentication may be used to set up an authenticated link to desLibris from a secure and/or password-protected web page. We use a standard HTTP Referrer command to check the URL of the page that contained the link.
If that link is registered with desLibris, the user will be granted access.

There are, however, limitations to this approach. There are times where the referring URL is not passed, due to privacy or design of the web page. Known examples of this include:
- Some firewall software including Norton Personal Firewall will interfere.
- Scripts that use HTTP redirect
- Links that use JavaScript to open a new window
